Black Button Eyes Productions’ mission is to bring to Chicago premieres and seldom-seen works containing elements of fantasy, in which the magical and surreal invade reality. Our inaugural production was the Chicago and Midwest premiere of the Stephen Merritt and David Greenspan musical “Coraline,” adapted from the beloved fantasy novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman. In October 2015, we presented a musical adaptation of the poem “Goblin Market,” and in 2016 we did the Chicago premiere of the musical adaptation of the French story “Le Passe-Muraille,” titled “Amour.” Our 2017-2018 season began with the Chicago Storefront Premiere of “Shockheaded Peter” and continues with the Chicago Premiere of “Nevermore- The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe” in January 2018. We are currently working on our 2018-2019 season, which began with a world premiere adaptation of the stories of John Collier, and will finish with the Chicago Storefront Premiere of Evil Dead the Musical!
