About

Diane is a 16-year-old Korean-American figure skater who is recovering from a leg injury. With her tiger mother, Soo-hyun, making efforts to get her back on the ice, our protagonist is at a crossroads. Keep her mother happy and continue pushing her body to its limits, or face her fears that she might be worthless without her skating… and quit. “Bleeding Edge” will illustrate the expectations Korean parents place on their children’s success, drawing comparisons between Asian “tiger parenting” methods and the harsh training environments of the figure skating world. The film invites adults to empathize with teen struggles, push parents to reflect on their own parenting, and, most importantly, serve as a wake-up call to Korea and the world at large on how we are treating our youth.
