BLiPSWiTCH's Artistic Statement.


OFFBEAT SERIES:
BLiPSWiTCH's Offbeat series has brought over 150 multidisciplinary artists together in locally-sponsored community venues.





DANCE CLASSES:
BLiPSWiTCH proudly offers the most financially accessible weekly contemporary dance class in Austin (2018-present).
We've hosted almost 20 guest teachers, including two workshops:
- "Unconventional Dance" with NYC artists Hollis Bartlett & Nattie Trogdon
- Jesse Zaritt & Michael Wall, co-hosted with filmmaker Maggie Bailey for the documentary Moving Together (released in 2022 and now playing on PBS).

EVENING LENGTH WORKS:
1. Diet Fizz Radio (2017)   
- Nominated in the 2017 Austin Critics Table Awards: choreography, sound, lighting, and dancer.
2. Roheline (2017)

Developed as artist in residence for the eighth installment of the Eleven Eleven project.
3. Shoestring (2017)
- A portion of ticket sales benefitted the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians.
4. hone \ rile (2018)

Through community voting, BLiPSWiTCH was awarded a grant to support this work.
5. On the Skids (2019)

7. Gentle our Driftless Caravan (2022, commissioned by En Route Productions)
- Listed as one of the Seven Performance Highlights of 2022 by SIGHTLINES Magazine

- A culmination of our Still Life movement installation series.
 







BLiPSWiTCH has been presented by Austin Dance Festival, San Antonio Dance Festival, Wizard Rodeo, Revolve: A Movement Display, Dislocate (Santa Barbara, CA), Ready/Set/Go! Dance, and First Street Studio. Our work has also been commissioned by Louisiana's Acadiana Center for the Arts (K.C. Jones & Friends, 2024), Performa/Dance (Hyperbaton, 2024), visual artist Elizabeth Chapin (Dancing with Trees, 2024), photographer Frank Curry (Insecta, 2022), and Mendocino College (2019). 






UPCOMING:
  •  Site-Specific Sponsorship program-- a new artist support initiative we launched this year-- will be presenting our first awardees' show in November.
  • The 10th(!) year of BLiPSWiTCH begins on October 10th! We will be kicking it off with a Ten for Ten fundraising campaign and community celebration event.
  • We will be returning to Wizard Rodeo music festival for the fourth year.
  • A new evening length work and Offbeat XI to come in 2026.
