Break Bread, Build Community — Through Craft is a community-based initiative created by Niovi Forbes as part of The Architecture of Us: Remembering to Be Human.
Through free, small-group gatherings centered on making, conversation, and shared meals, the project uses craft and the dining table as tools for human connection. Participants make alongside practicing artists and makers, then gather around the table to share food and conversation.
The project is intended to counter social isolation and loneliness, revive craft as a means of connecting with ourselves and others, encourage the exchange of skills and traditions, and strengthen relationships across generations, cultures, and social circles within the Block Island community.
