About Our Film
Adapted from her award-winning novel & critically acclaimed stage play, HBO Latinx Director award, and SXSW-winning director, Elaine Del Valle brings her powerful autobiographical coming-of-age story to the screen.
Brownsville Bred is as much a coming-of-age drama as a gritty slice of American-Latina adolescence amidst the height of the 1980s Brooklyn crime epidemic.
To date, the Brownsville Bred film project has been chiefly funded through grants, including from the Warnermedia 150 Foundation, Sundance Institute, Knight Foundation, and Caz Matthews Fund. All are respected organizations that value emerging artists sharing thought-provoking stories.
Now, thanks to our Artist fiscal sponsorship (Fractured Atlas), you too can make a tax-deductible contribution to help us realize our dream and finish our film. We are just $50,000 away from achieving our goal.
