About us:
Three Crows is a pay-what-you-can theatre company, which means that all of our tickets are affordably accessible to anyone who wants to experience the transformative power of live theatre. Any donation, no matter how big or small, helps us tell good stories that matter.
We believe in the transformative power of theatre which is why we offer a pay-what-you-can option. Everyone has access to our shows. They can pay nothing, $1, or $1,000. (No one has ever paid $1,000 for a ticket but fingers crossed.) Theatre shouldn't just be for the rich or elite.
Three Crows was founded in 2015. We have produced three seasons and seven shows. The 2019/2020 season is our fourth and our eighth and ninth shows. Language of Angels by Naomi Iizuka is our supernatural whodunit study of a group of friends after a disappearance of a teenage girl. Our second show, The Danish Play by Sonny Mills, explores the life of Agnete Ottosen, a Danish poet and WWII Resistance fighter who was captured and imprisoned by the Nazis.
Why donations are needed:
Donations are essential to any small arts organization. Without the generous support we receive, Three Crows would not survive. Our ticket prices are solely based on donation. We turn no one away for an inability to pay.
We are fundraising for our 2019/2020 season. Our first show, Language of Angels, starts rehearsals on August 25 and opens October 10. Our second show, The Danish Play, starts rehearsals in late February 2020 and opens April 2. We've also increased our performance runs from three weeks to four weeks to better reach audiences.
What are the benefits:
Three Crows is a small, local organization. When you give to Three Crows, each and every dollar matters. It helps us bring affordable theatre to the community. Our higher cost of living makes it difficult for some to be able to access live theatre. We are Evanston's only non-Shakespeare pay-what-you-can theatre. We also attract the Northside of Chicago's population as well.
We also have thank you gifts for different donation levels!
Audience and Critical Feedback:
Timberlake Wertenbaker's brilliant 1988 play is well-served by imaginative staging and strong ensemble acting in Three Crows Theatre's intimate, bare-bones production.
- Albert Williams, Chicago Reader
I've probably seen 30 plays in the last 6 months. Yours and one other I'd see again.

Great acting by a talented cast in an intimate theatre. Fabulous production-and the ticket price can't be beat!

Excellent cast. Strong performances. Good story. Very creative use of space for small theatre. Highly recommend.
