Circo Nosara

Circo Nosara brings Costa Rican and international families together through the joy of circus, building bridges through laughter, creativity, and shared experience.

In a rapidly changing world, where genuine human connection feels more important than ever, circus creates a place to gather, play, laugh, take risks, and experience something side by side. It brings people of different languages, cultures, ages, and backgrounds together to share in the fun. For us, circus is not only about what happens on stage. It is about the connections that form around it, and the community we build through joy.

Founded in 2018 by Jason Burnstein and Elena Orsak, our classes and performances combine circus skills, theatrical play, and music. Participants of all ages explore perseverance, balance, imagination, and the courage to be seen. Through juggling, clowning, and creating together, we discover new possibilities in ourselves and one another.

In the 2025–26 season, we took that spirit on the road. ¡El Circo Viajero! brought our yellow tuk-tuk, young performers, and the joy of circus to six neighborhoods throughout Nosara, offering free community performances and creating new opportunities to gather, laugh, and connect.

Now we’re preparing for the 2026–27 season. Your support will help keep classes affordable and accessible, pay teachers and artists fairly, provide the equipment and supplies that make the magic possible, and bring ¡El Circo Viajero! back into communities throughout Nosara. This year, we also hope to bring live music to every performance, adding another layer of joy, artistry, and connection to each gathering.

The Mejia Muniz Gund Foundation has generously committed $50,000 to help make this next chapter possible. We’re inviting our community to help raise an additional $15,000 for the 2026–27 season. With a one-time or monthly gift, you can help us grow a circus that brings people together and belongs to the whole community.
