About

Civic Collaborations engages communities to collectively imagine a future in which care and generosity are practiced to build a just & regenerative world. Civic asks itself and its collaborators: What if the most radical thing we could do was to form caring and generous communities? How might our communities function as sustainable social economies? How might caring for someone or something else help to support those unsupported by other social systems? What possibilities could a collective engagement with our civic imagination inspire? Civic launched in 2021 with a community supported hair studio that regards conversation as central to offering care for one another, building community and trust, as well as a way to connect and envision the world we wish to inhabit. Now as Civic grows into an arts & community organization, we will build a collective social practice through an ongoing series of collaborative and participatory projects that use art to inspire gestures of generosity, care, play, and the imagination. Civic seeks to collaborate with artists, scientists, advocates, and the public on work that considers how caring for others and the environment could inspire creative solutions to pressing social, environmental and ecological problems. Art, Storytelling, Music, Walks, Movement, Collective Action, and Ecology, are at the core of Civic's modes of inquiry, action and ways of knowing. Projects will include a range of artistic mediums and modes of presentation: visual art in public spaces; participatory art; participatory workshops; live and recorded music and theater performance; web based projects and exhibitions; writing and producing publications; gallery exhibitions; collaborations with other mission aligned organizations, and everyday acts of care such as storytelling & listening; hairstyling; and walking.  Civic looks forward to your support and participation in creating a just and verdant future. With endless optimism, I thank you!
