Close No Circle

Close No Circle is a contemporary ensemble based in Dallas, TX. We compose, perform, and record new and existing works of indeterminate music. This music is a sparsely explored niche of classical music, and this ensemble seeks to expand that horizon further. Central to our mission is a commitment to inclusivity, welcoming musicians from all backgrounds, skill levels, and musical traditions.

Indeterminate music often requires ensemble members to listen attentively to each other and make spontaneous decisions about what and when to play. Typically, the music is organized into a framework of available phrases, notes, and measures that musicians may decide to use during the performance. This type of music is written for open instrumentation, accommodating any number of performers and any combination of instruments. By embracing this flexible and collaborative approach, we create an environment where every musician, regardless of their experience or instrument, can contribute meaningfully to the creative process.
