Colloquy Collective is a theatrical space for the performer of color to expand his or her professional repertoire while recognizing the unique experiences created by his or her identity, history, and community. Through that, Colloquy Collective will expose the audience – particularly the audience of color—to the theatrical canon in contexts that acknowledges the identities, histories, and communities of that audience.
Simply, its purpose is threefold:
- to create, present, and discuss performance-based works for a broad community;
- to make both the creation and presentation of performance-based work more inclusive of all identities, cultures, and experiences;
- and, to expose the public to performance-based work from a variety of traditions, cultures, and contexts.
