Common Knowledge explores how people can build useful, beautiful, and meaningful spaces with limited resources by documenting practical, vernacular, and Indigenous building traditions across the country. Through travel, hands-on experimentation, and conversations with builders and communities, the project will gather and translate this knowledge into approachable plans, instructional resources, a book, and a video series. The goal is to make building knowledge more accessible—particularly to people with limited financial resources or formal training—with digital resources offered freely and books distributed at no cost through libraries, community organizations, and directly to those in need.
