Our hope is to disentangle the misconceptions surrounding sexual violence, and weave a new tapestry of hope and courage that will bring comfort to those survivors who feel unsupported by a patriarchal society, which has normalized the silencing of survivors and the enabling of perpetrators. Common Thread will display the power of image-making, quilt making, and film by holding space for survivors across the Chicagoland area and around the world to discard their shame and stand together with dignity and power.
