Budget Adjustment & Production Growth

We’re excited to share an important update as Corona Crazy: The Musical moves into its final production phase.

Thanks to your support, the show is now fully cast, rehearsals are underway, and the artistic scope of the production has expanded in ways that strengthen the work and better support our company. As a result, we’ve made the decision to adjust our fundraising goal from $12,500 to $14,500, reflecting a 16% budget increase.

This adjustment allows us to responsibly bring on new creative team members who are essential to delivering the show at the professional level this opportunity demands:

  • An Associate Choreographer to assist Rachel Bress with an ambitious movement program that supports the physical storytelling of the piece

  • An Assistant Musical Director to work with Benjamin Hey! on more intricate vocal interplay, allowing him to focus fully on his role as Lead Actor while maintaining musical excellence

  • An Assistant Stage Manager to support Andrew Kasper, enabling him to manage incidental sound design and technical cueing more effectively during rehearsals and performances

These additions ensure that our performers are supported, our creative leaders can focus on their primary responsibilities, and the production runs smoothly as we approach opening.

We are incredibly grateful for the momentum that has brought us this far. This modest budget increase reflects growth, not excess—and helps us honor our commitment to paying artists and creatives fairly while putting our best work on stage.

If you’ve already contributed, thank you for helping us reach this exciting stage. If you’re considering supporting the project, we’re now just $3,000 away from meeting our updated goal.

Thank you for being part of this journey and helping us bring Corona Crazy: The Musical to life.

The Story of Our Story.png 469.28 KB
Corona Crazy: The Musical

was written in the silence of the 2020 lockdown, when New York’s streets fell eerily still — but its people found new ways to stay alive, connected, and hopeful. Introducing 14 original songs and a fresh powerful script, the show follows 9 neighbors in one NYC apartment building as they navigate fear, loss, love, and resilience living through the early days of lockdown in the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic. Songs like Money Gettin’ Funny, Trapped & Alone, and Zoom School express both humor and heartbreak in equal measure.

Why This Story, Why Us, Why Now?

We are New Yorkers who lived through those early days, writing songs and scenes in real time to capture the voices of our city when it mattered most. We believe theatre can transform isolation into solidarity. Why now? Because memory fades quickly, but art keeps truth alive — this is the moment to preserve the resilience of diverse communities who endured together, apart. Without this project, a vital chapter of our shared history risks being lost. Our message of endurance through community is especially relevant now when our sense of connection seems be fraying under new social challenges. The Plot.png 527.72 KB
The story begins in April 2020, in a Midtown Manhattan high-rise apartment building, just two weeks into the COVID-19 shutdown. Hospitals are overwhelmed, unemployment benefits remain uncertain, and each character grapples with job, relationship, and financial insecurity. Through dialogue and song, the unfolding narrative reveals the dramatic changes in their lives, as isolation tests their resilience and forces new ways of coping. The action concludes a year later, in March 2021, at a building-wide party. As vaccines begin to roll out and life slowly becomes more recognizable, all of the characters gather together for the first time, embodying the fragile hope of reconnection after a year apart. Click here for this little teaser music video featuring creator Benajmin Hey! playing the three main roles of Cap'n, Millie, and Anthony singing the title track, "Corona Crazy."
