CR8:BLK is expanding it's programming work to include production and sponsorship of film, web series, and other film/video projects. The current film projects being presented by CR8:BLK are African.American, Reading in Black, ADOWA, and VITALS. This campaign is to help with production of the new CR8:BLK web series VITALS, which started production in January 2023.
Following the lives of five medical doctors of African/Caribbean descent in America, this series is centered around a young Black female doctor trying to make her mark against all odds. She narrates the story of her journey becoming a medical doctor and the stories of her colleagues are narrated by them from their perspectives. Set in an American city where a top performing university funded hospital is breaking ground with residents from diverse backgrounds. We see how Black immigrants families, medical students, and doctors make it happen with inspiring stories that are inspiring, touching, and at times funny. This series sets a precedent with an all Black/African lead cast and a diverse film crew with the series being directed by an emerging Black women filmmaker. Inspired by true stories, this series is set to be an episodic drama that will be distributed on streaming platforms and special screenings in the US and Africa.

We hope to raise $15,000 to continue filming the series in Richmond, Virginia and completing the first season of the series by January 2024. This is an initiative to create more paid film opportunities for Black women filmmakers, under represented groups in the independent film, and youth. Learn more on the video attached to this campaign.
