CR8:BLK Foundation is producing Where Conversations Brew is a documentary film showcasing an intercontinental partnership from Philadelphia to the Congo and across communities of the Congolese diaspora, the emergence of a new barista culture where reclaim of new narratives is possible.

The film follows two entrepreneurs of Congolese descent (one based in Philadelphia) as they work to build a sustainable coffee companies rooted in the heart of their homeland. Through their journey, the film weaves a powerful narrative of resilience, cultural pride, and economic empowerment, while exploring the growing African coffee business boom. 

Through their journey, the film will capture the powerful narrative of economic empowerment set against the backdrop of Congo’s complex history and vibrant potential. As well as, tell the stories of other African and Black entrepreneurs venturing in the coffee industry. Told from the point of view of the entrepreneurs, the theme of the documentary will encompass how determination and hope takes the love for coffee as a connector to a vital purpose. 

The film, written by Rebekah Ofori and co-produced by Charles Jones, is a sensory entry point into a larger conversation about Congo’s possible global significance in the coffee industry and the economic potential of African coffee companies. 

This fundraiser for the film will help with film production cost and raising money to host coffee tastings and meetups to discuss economic development and social impact.
