About

Creature Fear intends to ask audiences upon reflection: how can we improve the criminal justice system? This Hitchcockian thriller is an example of justice gone awry, and its potential consequences, in a rural Midwestern setting.

The story follows a Chicago musician named Charlie, who travels to his parents' Wisconsin lake house to record music with a local woman named Miriam whom he recently met at a ski hill. Miriam harbors a traumatic past involving the death of her father, which she delicately conceals from Charlie. However, the past catches up to her in the form of a revengeful and starving felon from Plainfield named Paul. Stepping into a different culture, will Charlie's naivety prove fatal, or will Miriam and Charlie escape and find success with their music?

It's CAPE FEAR meets A STAR IS BORN.

Wisconsin has an unfortunate history with infamous serial killers including Ed Gein and Jeffrey Dahmer. At the same time, Wisconsin has produced world class artists including Heather Graham, Willem Defoe, Chris Farley, Mark Ruffalo, Gene Wilder, Gena Rowlands, Les Paul, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Justin Vernon (Bon Iver). This contrast between beautiful art and brutal crime along with our sweaty hot summers and bitterly cold winters make Wisconsin a truly dichotomous state. From class to mental health to justice and liberty, there are so many themes to be explored in this setting. Many classic horror films took influence from the story of Ed Gein including PSYCHO and THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. However, CREATURE FEAR is the first film shot on location in the same county where Gein committed his crimes in the 1950s.
