About

Founded in 2008, Critical Craft Forum offers real time conversations about critical issues of interest to the craft field. Anyone can participate and shape the conversation. We are energized by over 11,500+ participating members today – and add new members daily from across the globe.
People like you make CCF into a platform for dialogue, discussion, and debate. Join us and expand the dialogue in new ways - online and onsite.
The aim in 2016-17 was to expand the conversation from the Facebook Group to monthly blog posts, expanded podcasts (listen at Critical Craft Forum on iTunes), programming and publications. Since then, CCF has raised more than $45,000 to support production costs for podcasts, a publication (support for contributing writers and editor for the forthcoming Companion on Contemporary Craft, Wiley Blackwell Publishing), and facilitation/moderation of the Facebook Group.
In 2018, CCF hosted a full day of sessions by invitation at College Art Association, and in 2019 will host the 10th CCF Session focused on future scholars in the field of craft. The Companion for Contemporary Craft is slated for publication in 2019-2020.
In 2016, we added an additional, new project on Gender and Adornment, the first study of the connection between contemporary jewelry and gender (led by Benjamin Lignel and Namita Wiggers).
Goals for 2018-19: Raise funds to continue support for Facebook moderation and new podcast releases, and produce limited edition publications as a fundraising tool to expand Gender and Adornment into a publicly accessible and online platform.
