About

Cuéntame is a small grassroots organization that disrupts mainstream narratives of disability via media projects and community events founded by siblings, Ryan and Connor Roach, in 2016.

Cuentame’s media work explores the experiences of the disability community and the various intersections that exist within disability.

Between 2017 and 2020, Cuèntame created their first documentary film, Historias de Activismo, which documented the lives of five women in Lima, Peru, fighting for a more accessible world. In 2022, Cuèntame published the photo essay series, Exploring the Impacts of Ableism: A COVID-19 Photo Essay Series. The series detailed the experiences of over 60 disabled and chronically ill individuals during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cuèntame is currently filming their next documentary, Raving For Access, which explores the vibrant and little-known-world of queer-disabled nightlife. The film captures the work of two collectives, Crip Ectasy and MouthWater, and the experiences of the Cuèntame team as they host, FACESTRAPPED, an access-centered party in NYC.

In addition to media projects, Cuèntame has hosted free occupational therapy training to communities in the United States and Perú and art classes for neurodivergent children and their families in Brooklyn, NY.
