The CUNY Theatre Festival is a one-day festival of original student theatre from seven CUNY campuses, staged at Hunter College in spring 2027. Our theme is Dreams & Magic: we dream of making new theatre and of changing people's lives with the magic of storytelling. Eight new plays, all debuts by CUNY student playwrights, built entirely from cardboard, recycled materials, and found objects, and performed for free for two hundred people. These are working-class, first-generation young theatre makers, and most of them have never had a real stage, a real audience, or a produced credit. You can be the reason they get their first one. Every dollar goes straight into the students and their work: their sets, their stipends, their debut.
