DAME Magazine’s mission is to build a more equitable media landscape by reporting on the critical issues of our time through the lens of women and to elevate the stories of people most often left out of the conversation.
We believe that creating an equitable journalism environment not only helps the communities we represent and serve in our content, but maintains balance, equity, and truth in the overall media landscape.
We report on topics that are often overlooked by the mainstream media, written and analyzed by both new and seasoned writers with unique perspectives.
Our coverage areas reflect the diverse and complex topics of today. Our readers are proactive. They are conversation starters and deep thinkers who are driven by the idea that information is power and can help the world become a more fair and just place.
We’re living in a uniquely complicated moment. We face events that are both hopeful and optimistic, and others that are deeply discomforting and hard to grasp. Our role as an independent, women-led media outlet is to report factually on the influences and drivers of these moments together with the systems and people behind them.
A small sample of our past work includes a groundbreaking series on American values and on rising waves of vigilantism in this country. We’ve led the conversation on reproductive rights, how disinformation has broken down our democratic institutions, and the ways in which legacy media often fails its readers. We reported extensively on women’s health and the impact of food insecurity and access across the United States.
Funding will support our 2024 plans to produce more deeply reported investigative series across a host of focus areas including climate solutions, cultural criticism, innovating women’s health initiatives, our relationship with death and grief, the next wave of tech, and America’s financial future.
In addition to long-form reporting on our website, our coverage will also include audio reporting in podcasts and short-form docustyle videos.
