My work in essence embodies the rhythms and movements which originate in North Eastern Brazil which align with the African/Brazilian Diaspora. Whatever theme or idea I decide to create a dance upon, elements of Brazilian dance and expression will always be an integral part of the work because it has been embedded into my movement DNA. The project that I will produce is loosely based on the legend about a hunter named Oxossi who embodies the spirit of the forest, the community, animals, the harvest and abundance. Oxossi is an Orixa coming from the Yoruba Tradition, and in Bahia is known to be the only Orixa or deity associated with a living man who existed hundreds of years ago who's legend still lives on today.
