DandeLion Child is a short film that follows Dakota, who, when forced on a playdate to the zoo with her abuser, escapes into the fantasy world of her favorite cartoon series to leave behind her homelife of neglect and abuse. The film explores themes of childhood innocence and psychology, family dynamics, poverty and survival; and it will blend digital cinema, super 8 film, and wool-felted stop-motion animation to contrast between the different psychological settings of the story. This project is being produced as an NYU Tisch Senior Advanced Thesis Production that will screen independently at film festivals and also serve as proof-of-concept for a feature film that’s currently in development.
