Dangerous Things is a musical project that will be presented alongside visual assets (music videos, recorded live performances, and testimonials). Informed in part by research on coping with trauma, Dangerous Things is about how we survive the multitude of violence (e.g., racial, sexual, domestic/intimate, economic) we face using dissociation, escapism, desensitization, and isolation. The goal, though, is to refine our coping strategies and to inspire people to seek help and community in order to create to sustainable practices. I don't simply aim to deal with this on an intellectual level; I hope to combine direct and honest narrative with the somatic, soul-stirring power of music to encourage our community to engage in comprehensive healing.
As an artist, I (under the artist name Aeolus White) released an earlier project in 2018 called Conventional Love (currently available on all streaming platforms) which sought to explore the effects traditional heteronormative tropes had on people who were different, on those who could not find themselves in the love stories told on television, in movies or in the most popular love songs. I bring this experience, along with years of experience as a performing artist, to Dangerous Things.
