Ross Daniel and Sarah Rose began DanielRose Projects as a platform for their continued collaborative choreographic work. The pair were selected for MANCC’s (Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography) inaugural Forward Dialogues program for emerging artists in May, 2017 which gave them the opportunity to research a merging of their two distinct choreographic practices. This resulted in the development of their shared practice, Duration and Respond. This practice consists of durational movement research followed by immediate response in different media: visual design, sound design, movement collation. The pair make place-specific work through conducting this practice in numerous different locations and then synthesizing these accumulated experiences into a structured performance work. The process results not only in accumulated movement material, but also in visual design and sound design. The resulting performance necessarily speak to humans’ interaction with environment and with each other through Daniel and Rose’s use of the duet form. DanielRose Projects has performed at MANCC (Tallahassee, FL), 621 Gallery (Tallahassee, FL), WAXworks (Brooklyn, NY), DanceFest Milford (Milford, PA), SMUSH Gallery (Jersey City, NJ), and The Phantom Theater (Warren, VT).
