Danza Restless is a hybrid dance company that blends digital and live performance — born during the COVID-19 lockdown as an artistic response to isolation and uncertainty.
It began with Restless, a dance film created by choreographers from around the world and performed by a single dancer in a New York City apartment. With rehearsals held over Zoom and footage captured entirely on a cellphone, Restless was a low-budget yet deeply creative collaboration — a prototype of what Danza Restless would become.
Initially launched as an online platform, Danza Restless offered artists a space to connect, train, create, and perform when theatres were closed. It became a refuge for dancers struggling with the loss of live performance — a way to keep art alive in a time of anxiety and disconnection.
Now that COVID-19 no longer dominates our lives, we’ve expanded our mission. While we continue to create digital works, we now will perform internationally on physical stages and in live venues. As a hybrid company, we are proud to offer employment opportunities for dancers, choreographers, musicians, video editors, and arts administrators.
We believe art is essential — vital for mental health, for providing escape, and for advancing humanity. Just as vital is the need to create sustainable jobs for dancers and artists, ensuring they are fairly paid and respected for their work.
Danza Restless is a non-profit initiative under the fiscal sponsorship of Fracture Atlas. We ask for your support in helping us grow this vision — giving artists a space to create, and audiences a chance to experience dance in new and meaningful ways.
Our first film, Restless, received multiple nominations at international film festivals — celebrated for its creativity over budget. With your help, we can take the next step: producing high-quality works and ensuring proper remuneration for the artists who make them possible.
Danza Restless is more than a project. It is an artistic sanctuary — where dance is honored as both essential and remunerated.
