With a diverse cast of ages, ethnicities, gender identities, and orientations, Darvejon Jones & Artists will create a work that investigates the following:
1) What does it mean for bodies in different stages in life to inhabit the same space within the container of a “40-minute” time frame?
2) What becomes evident within these bodies when the recognition of time, age, and experience is observed?
3) What does “seasoning” or ”experience” mean in the context of art, movement, and dance when artistic merits and thesis (the Greek deity of creation [world making]) are inherent components of childhood and markers of intelligence, virtue, and recklessness in adulthood?
These questions, intrinsically phenomenological, will be the genesis of our movement explorations, improvisation, choreography, dancing, vocalizing, and painting. The interdisciplinary nature of this project will inspire graphocentric documentation, visual media, and recordings that can be a touchstone for qualitative research in dance performance.
