DEAR THONG

Logline:
A musical comedy short film loaded with laughs and whimsy! Logline: Enough is enough, after many failed attempts Julie’s finally ready to step into her power and end her long term relationship with the hottest thang in her life… her thong.

Inspiration:
You know when you do something for years and years and years because you think you’re supposed to and then one day while putting laundry away, you bend to pick up the bin, get a massive wedgie, and stand up knowing you’ve been living a lie? Me too! That’s how I, came up with the idea for this short. 

 

Everything suddenly became clear. Why am I doing this to myself?! I said goodbye to my thongs, and hello to my power! But I couldn’t keep this potent realization to myself, so I got to writing and now here we are!

Creator Bio:
I’m no stranger to comedy. In my early career I found a home on the legendary comedy stage at UCB. Also, starring in their only feature film, FREAK DANCE alongside Amy Poehler. I’ve worked with comedy legends including Martin Short, John Mulaney, and Rachel Bloom to name a few. My fav TV credits are… MONSTER, CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND, BIG BANG THEORY, COMEDY BANG BANG, etc. 

 

On the writing side, I love to bring my own work to life. I’ve produced/starred in my short film THE FIX, which played many festivals including LA SHORTS. In 2025, I released an 8-episode web series, ACTORS ANONYMOUS, that not only played in festivals, but also currently has over 375,000 views on YouTube! 

 

I’ve never not completed a project and exceeded expectations. The choice to support DEAR THONG is a choice to join an artist in bringing a film from start to finish.

Director Bio:
Vidhya Iyer is a writer, director, and third-culture kid. Born in Nigeria and raised in India, she moved to LA to write for TV. Since then, she has written for several hit shows like Harley Quinn, Solar Opposites, Hazbin Hotel, Little Voice and Kiteman. She has also sold shows to Imagine, 20th TVA and Netflix. Last year, she was part of the prestigious CAPE Showrunner Incubator.

Vidhya tells unexpected stories from expected characters and loves genre, comedy, and action. Her directorial debut, Giving Mom the Talk, is an official selection in over 30 film festivals, including 9 Oscar-qualifying festivals, and has won 8 awards including Best Director and Best Performance at Seriesfest. She is currently in pre-production on 2 shorts that she's directing.
