About

Denizen Arts Project (DAP) is a multidisciplinary collaborative performance project conceived by dance/performance artist yaTande Whitney V. Hunter and theater artist Jude Sandy. Denizen Arts Project (DAP) was formed in 2016 to foster creative community and honor the cultural and art-making practices of African diaspora, queer and other global identities. DAP seeks to be a locus for the creation of new works and renewed discourses on contemporary complexities of the human experience. Since its inception DAP, through its artistic lead, has continued its collaborative process through group and solo works: "Black Lavender Angels Fest," "Yowa Maafa," “9Roads." After a well-received, and NEA supported, Philadelphia debut performance of "Walk the (pink) Elephant" in 2021 as a Performance Garage DanceVisions artist in residence, DAP will return in the fall for the DanceVisions Alum concert. DAP's performance will re-engage audiences garnered through its Philadelphia performance and continue galvanizing a community of support for continued operations and future projects. DAP is committed to its four pillars of engagement: performance, education, community, culture, and the contribution of the art-invested public enables the success of Denizen Arts Project (DAP). Contributions provide supplemental funding towards additional and on-going artistic, administrative, and production expenses leading up to the fall performance.
