Funding will support the creation of a narrative that centers a Black queer male lead to address the historical silence of queer artists in jazz while dramatizing the mental health costs of code-switching. To ensure an authentic sound, we will commission emerging LGBTQ+ and BIPOC composers to create original recordings that educate viewers on this musical lineage.
For the initial phase of Dez Harmony, our primary goals are to:
Produce a high-impact Proof of Concept (POC)—either a fully realized trailer or a polished 10-minute segment of the pilot episode. This transforms the project from a written script into a viewable, tangible product.

Because the series relies on a complex concept where music is made visible, the (POC) will prove technical and artistic feasibility. It will demonstrate the project's signature advanced 3D animation pipeline and unique synesthetic visual effects.
Establish the Authentic Sound
The (POC) will move beyond stock music to showcase original score and song production. This includes commissioning emerging LGBTQ+ and BIPOC composers to create the jazz and soul recordings that form the show's musical backbone.
Secure Full Series Financing
Strategically, the (POC) serves as a tool to secure grants, partners, and full production financing. By demonstrating the full creative and artistic potential of the project now, we position Dez Harmony for broader partnerships and long-term success.
