The Community Flute Lessons Project
The Community Flute Lessons Project is a 10-week program launching this fall at Colonial Heights Middle School in Richmond, Virginia. It provides free, high-quality group flute instruction to 6th-grade students—especially those who may not otherwise have access to private lessons or early musical guidance.
The program is designed to:
- Remove financial and logistical barriers to music education
- Nurture young students at a critical point in their musical development
- Offer a joyful and inclusive space for students to learn, grow, and connect through music
This project has been in my heart for years. As both a flutist and educator, building a program that brings accessible, meaningful music education into public schools—especially for beginners is incredibly important to me. Now, with your help, it’s becoming a reality.
About DiazFlute Studios
Founded by Anamarie Diaz, DiazFlute Studios offers private flute instruction, community programming, and financial education for musicians. I’m a classically trained flutist, arts administrator, and dedicated teacher based in Richmond, VA. I currently teach a vibrant studio of students of all ages, perform throughout Richmond, adjunct teach at Randolph Macon College, and work with nonprofits to support arts access and sustainability.
My own musical career began in a public school band room—with a rented flute and a teacher who believed in me. The Community Flute Lessons Project is my way of giving that same spark of opportunity to a new generation of students.
