GET WELLINGTON LOVE! is a bold two-volume digital graphic novel series that fuses the cinematic energy of Spider-Verse, the retro-futurism of classic Star Trek, and the emotional resonance of Kubo and the Two Strings. At its heart, it is a coming-of-age espionage adventure about Wellington Love, a queer Black teen from Queens who discovers he has powerful telepathic abilities. Through friendship, resilience, and empathy, Wellington learns to navigate both high school and a covert world of global conspiracies—redefining what heroism looks like.
The first volume (75–100 pages) is currently in development, with the second to follow. Volume One introduces Wellington, his best friend Jett Nishikawa, and the magnetic Dare Montgomery as they form an unlikely alliance to compete in the Future Innovators Summit, a high-stakes technology competition. Their personal ambitions are soon overtaken by tragedy, betrayal, and a revelation that propels them into an international struggle. The second volume expands to a global stage, confronting Wellington with the dark origins of his powers, a mysterious twin, and an ingenious revolutionary whose AI can predict the future. Together, the two books complete Wellington’s origin story while laying the foundation for future adaptations across film, television, and interactive media.
The project will be presented as a digital-first graphic novel, ensuring accessibility through platforms like Webtoon, Tapas, and a dedicated website. Public benefit will be extended through schools, libraries, and cultural partners in New York City and beyond, with classroom guides, workshops, and festival appearances fostering dialogue around empathy, identity, and STEM themes. By centering underrepresented voices in a thrilling, cinematic format, GET WELLINGTON LOVE! aims to inspire a new generation of readers and establish a proof-of-concept for inclusive, globally resonant storytelling.
