Duo della Luna

Duo della Luna (Susan Botti and Airi Yoshioka) performs eclectic contemporary chamber music in an unusual combination of voice and violin. The duo’s eclectic repertoire includes re-imagined existing works, newly commissioned works (including undiscovered voices), and diverse folk song arrangements. The duo engages in a wide-range of related educational outreach opportunities.

This coming season will include concerts, master classes, and workshops. We also are in the process of recording our latest repertoire including new works by Salina Fisher, Eliza Brown, and Susan Botti (commissioned by Duo della Luna); and works by Milhaud, Bartók, and Berio.

Looking forward, we will be premiering commissioned works from a wide range of composers including Mojgan Misaghi, Alfredo Cabrera, Gianluca Verlinghieri, Caterina Calderoni, and Yun Fei Alison Jiang. We are actively scheduling performances, residencies, and workshops in the coming seasons which will feature these new works.

Another exciting project on the horizon is Susan Botti’s concerto for the duo, Lunar Effects (Effetti Lunari), for voice, violin, and wind ensemble. The work will premiere in Messina, Sicily at the Conservatorio di Musica Arcangelo Corelli Messina, conducted by Lorenzo Della Fonte in Spring 2027, followed by a U.S. premiere at Yale University, conducted by Tom Duffy, in the 2027-28 season.
