About

My process is that of inquiry and discovery -- a kind of conversation over time. Working with oil paint, watercolor, pigments, and inks, in video, sound, and sculptural form, I seek to create a spaciousness the viewer can enter -- an evocative place, a world to explore, an opportunity to discover, reflect – to experience their own stories, or even reframe them.

My ongoing work explores the nature of narrative, individual and collective voice, of culture, quest, and our essential relationship with Nature. I am currently working on two new projects for which I am seeking your support:

PATH
In revisiting the themes that moved me to create The Talking Trees -- my earliest sound installation -- I am developing PATH, a new body of works that gives expression to nature-authored forms and phenomena and to the brilliant models of connectivity and reciprocity therein.

The Talking Trees
In its first installation in Basel, Switzerland, in a forest dappled with light, The Talking Trees employed language, symbol. and sound to evoke themes of migration, the notion of home, and the rich resource that is the result of the movement of culture and individual from context to context and place to place. Building on the initial work, I am seeking funding for additional sound recordings, technical support, and traveling of The Talking Trees to new public venues.

To date, I have received foundation grants that helps support studio and material costs. My goal is to raise an additional $23,000 by December 31, 2021, and $21,000 by June 30, 2022, to realize these two projects.

All donations are tax-deductible, and each and every donation -- regardless of size -- is important to reaching my goal.  I greatly appreciate your help and thank you in advance for your support.
