Eljuri Amplificando Voces para el Activismo Social
Eljuri is a New Yorker, an immigrant Latina born in Ecuador to Spanish and Lebanese parents, a singer, guitarist, and social activist -- or an "artivist" as she likes to describe herself. Her greatest passions are songwriting and activism, and she considers herself a conduit to the voices of those she encounters when touring internationally with her NYC-based power trio. Her music fuses stylistic elements of Latin, reggae, and global rhythms with a solid base of rock and funk, while her lyrics, in both Spanish and English, powerfully address human rights and other current, critical global issues.
In Eljuri's world, music and activism are deeply intertwined. She's been called a ‘rockstar humanitarian’ -- who seeks to empower not only the Latinx community but all champions for social justice. First-hand experience and representation truly do matter.
Eljuri Amplifying Voices for Social Activism is a series of live events that combine Eljuri's concerts with in-person engagement, media outreach, and digital marketing to inspire action on important social issues. This non-partisan initiative empowers communities through music, educational materials, and an activism toolkit, helping individuals turn awareness into immediate action and meaningful change.
The goal of this project is to attract and unite communities through the power of live music, creating an inclusive soundtrack that inspires people to recognize and use their voices. The Eljuri power trio performs original music and encourages audience participation.
In conjunction with these events, the Eljuri Activism Toolkit will soon be made available. Participants will find a cost-free, user-friendly interface with direct links to activities and solutions for key social, civic, safety, and environmental challenges.
The project's ideal outcome is to empower individuals with the ability to identify issues that matter to them and develop goals and actions towards effecting positive social change. The hope is that new and expanding audiences will connect with kindred spirits and potential collaborators in achieving greater impact and being at the forefront of much-needed solutions, both locally and globally.
