Eljuri Concerts for Democracy: Amplifying Voices for Social Change

Eljuri is a New Yorker, immigrant, Latina, woman, singer, and guitarist. Her greatest passions are songwriting and activism. She considers herself a conduit to the voices of those she encounters when she travels and tours internationally with her NYC based power trio. Her music is a fusion of Latin, reggae and global rhythms with rock and funk. Her lyrics, in Spanish and English are socially conscious and about current global issues.
In her world, music and activism are positively intertwined. She's been called a ‘Rockstar Humanitarian’ and seeks to empower not only the Latino community but all champions for human rights. Representation matters.
Eljuri Concerts for Democracy: Amplifying Voices for Social Change project is a live concert and workshop series with a focus on helping audience members find and use their voice towards positive change in their lives.
The goal of this project is to attract and unite communities through the power of live music, creating an inclusive soundtrack that inspires people to recognize and use their voice. The ‘Eljuri Concerts for Democracy’ feature the Eljuri power trio performing original music and encouraging audience participation.
In conjunction, Eljuri offers the bilingual “Amplify Your Voice” interactive workshop using her songs to reinforce the concept of using your voice for social change.
With national elections in more than 60 countries representing half of the world’s population in 2024, VOTING is certainly an example of how to amplify your voice. Eljuri is partnering with HeadCount.org (HeadCount.org/es), SpreadTheVote.org and Every Vote Counts (evcnational.org) at the concerts to foster a sense of community making voting a collective experience that encourages audience members to take action together. We will provide bilingual voting registration materials, a pathway to getting official legal IDs for those who don’t have them and reaching and engaging our youngest potential voters at our inclusive community gathering of like minds. This is a non-partisan event.
The project's ideal outcome is to empower individuals with the ability to identify issues that matter to them and develop goals/actions towards positive social change. That a new cohort of participants will find like minds and collaborators towards greater impact and to be at the forefront of solutions.
