eMBody is a NYC-based collective cultivating affirming spaces for dance creation, collaboration, and community across styles and disciplines. Led by Madeline Nobida and Bella Stenvall, both queer, mixed Asian-American dancers and choreographers based in Brooklyn, we center queer & trans dance-makers, curating performances and events that foster:
- Embodied Storytelling – movement as a form of self-representation, archive, activism, and lived experience.
- Experimental Play – encouraging risk-taking and exploration
- Collective Care – building a supportive, inclusive dance community rooted in connection and collaboration.
- Radical Joy – celebrating dance as an act of political resistance and collective empowerment.
We curate and produce performance opportunities for artists (centering queer & trans dance-makers) and present our own work that explores communal experiences of catharsis and celebration - ones that are participatory in nature and can exist anywhere from a stage to an apartment windowscape. We host a monthly Queer Jam, where queer & trans dancers of all levels are invited to explore and connect in an inclusive and encouraging environment.
