Emily Christianson Dances focuses on the creation and performance of intimate, evocative dance theater works that favor a stream of consciousness perspective and nonlinear approach. Intricate, textured, imaginative, and embracing the unexpected, her work celebrates the profundity of the individual’s journey, transforming it into a visceral collective experience.
Currently, Emily is laser-focused on completing and presenting “Conceal,” an immersive live performance event incorporating dance, storytelling, music, and plastic bubble wrap.
Through movement, architecture, and sound, “Conceal” seeks to unpack the implications of inhabiting a plastic-ridden society obsessed with convenience, perfectionism, and conformity. This work asks of the audience and performers alike: How can we preserve our vulnerable human tendencies when surrounded by unrealistic standards and expectations?
“Conceal” will incorporate plastic bubble wrap into the set design, costuming, and soundscape for a richly-layered auditory and visual experience.
Emily is thrilled to share this new work with a curious audience and welcomes your support!
