Every Story Cinema Collective is a year-round film programming organization dedicated to centering stories from Black filmmakers and other underrepresented communities in sustained public life. We curate screenings, facilitate conversations, and build community around films that challenge, inspire, and endure, not because it is a designated month, but because the stories demand it.
The organization was born from a simple frustration: films from underrepresented communities tend to receive the most visibility during heritage months and award seasons, then disappear from the conversation. A film generates buzz in February or earns a nomination in January, and by March it is gone. Not because the story stopped mattering, but because the cultural calendar moved on. Every Story Cinema Collective exists to make sure that cycle ends.
We are not a film festival. We are not a tribute. We are a permanent fixture in the cultural landscape.
Our programming runs across the full calendar year with no gap months and no quiet seasons. We show retrospectives alongside new releases, international films alongside American ones, and debut features alongside established voices.
Access is our organizing principle. Ticket prices are capped at $20. Free tickets are reserved for students and anyone who needs them, with no application and no gatekeeping. We provide transportation subsidies including rideshare vouchers and transit cards, because getting to the theater matters as much as getting in.
We are deeply committed to the next generation of storytellers. When a young person from an underserved community sees themselves at the center of a film, not as a side character or a problem to be solved, something shifts. The question of "could I do that" becomes "how do I start." We reserve free tickets for students, provide transportation, and remove every barrier we can so that the people these films are speaking to most directly are in the room.
Every Story Cinema Collective is currently self-funded. All funds raised go directly toward speaker fees and film licensing costs. There are no administrative layers between a contribution and the screen. Our goal is to build a sustainable foundation that lets us expand programming without ever compromising on access.
Every story deserves to be told. Every screen deserves to carry it.
