Set in 1935, Fefu and Her Friends centers on a meeting between a group of women and explores their relationships with each other, their bodies, gender, class, desire, men, politics, revulsion, and violence. With a gender expansive cast and creative team directed by Sophie Dushko (how would you like me to atone?, galatea 2.0, vérité), our production aims to encounter the play and these characters with fresh eyes influenced by our current political landscape and personal experiences. Equal parts interrogation and celebration staged intimately in a West Village townhouse, we are excited to bring a new life to the work of Maria Irene Fornes, an iconic trailblazer for women queer people in the American theatre. This production is brought to you in collaboration with Farmhands Productions.
