(Two Projects)
Flamenco at Veronica Robles Community Center: This is a training program in flamenco dance and music for low-income Latino students and artists in the East Boston neighborhood. One goal is to encourage exploration and professional development via mastery of the flamenco "language". The second goal is to integrate flamenco as part of the center's programming by creating a youth ensemble.
Performance Series at Tasca Restaurant: This project aims to provide a platform for emerging flamenco artists and to grow the flamenco scene in the city by producing at least one professional show per season at a beloved venue. The restaurant is already set up for flamenco shows, but lacks the resources to pay artists. With a grant of a few thousand dollars per year for artists' fees a series can be produced that guarantees high quality and sustainable programming.
