Our mission is to engage participants and audiences across age groups, identities, and socio-economic brackets. We are committed to providing a community art space that is equitable and accessible. Flatbush Community Theater forges relationships with several community organizations and has successfully piloted internship programs in local high schools such as Academy for College Prep, YCDHS, and Brooklyn Prospect Charter High School as part of our flagship program, Flatbush Theater Project. Flatbush Theater Project is a seasonal workshop of improvisational theater technique progressing into a workshop of playwriting, rehearsing and performing, for pre-teens and teens. In fact, the decision to move forward and lease and construct the theater (1101 Church Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11218) was made last Spring most of all so that Flatbush Theater Project would have a brick and mortar home where students could truly experience theater as a space of freedom and possibility.
