Thank you for helping us reach our fundraising goal!Dear Friends, Family & Supporters of Floor Five Theatre Co., It's hard to believe it but it's true - last night with 4 days still left in our campaign, we reached our goal of raising $20k to take zounds! to the Edinburgh Fringe!!! Thank you to each and every single one of you for donating your hard-earned money & cheering us on as we got closer and closer to the finish line and then ran right past it! That’s right, we’ve raised $20,676 and counting!!! We love you, we appreciate you and we THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. This production is happening because you believed in us and that's worth more than all the money in the world! Now here’s some more good news! Because we have 3 days left in our campaign, we’re still able to accept donations up until May 30th. So if you know anyone who wanted to show their support, please tell them they still can! Any money we raise from this point on will be evenly split amongst all cast & creative team. This will help offset our team’s costs of traveling to Edinburgh, which as you can imagine, are a lot. We have 21 people going to the Fringe and we estimate our costs to be a minimum of $2k per person. That’s $42k total. Now, we’re not expecting miracles (though this campaign is proof that they do happen!) but we would love to be able to reduce the burden on our team, even by just a couple hundred dollars. Our company members have participated in Fringe festivals around the world, but this will be our first time in Edinburgh!
WHAT THIS IS
“13 gods, Helen of Troy, one Greek chorus. Trojan War. Year 9. Mount Olympus. Send help.”
zounds! is a new play by Veronika Gribanova. It’s a comedy about the Greek gods during the Trojan War, set in the present. In the ninth year of the war, Aphrodite is injured in battle, and Zeus declares that the gods may no longer participate in the war… If the Greeks and Trojans think the war is hard, it's because they haven't been locked in with their whole family on Mount Olympus! (Thanks, Zeus). zounds! is a tale of politics, love, and literal sacrifices. A tale of the gods.
Floor Five Theatre Company premiered zounds! in December 2018 at Atlantic Stage 2, in association with Atlantic Acting School. Now we’re heading to the Edinburgh Fringe. "What’s that?" you might ask.
The Edinburgh Fringe is the largest arts festival in the world! It is also the largest and the first Fringe festival. Last year, the festival spanned 25 days and featured more than 55,000 performances of 3,548 different shows in 317 venues. It was established in 1947 and takes place annually in Edinburgh, Scotland in the month of August. This year the Fringe runs August 2 - 26. Show categories include theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, circus, cabaret, children's shows, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibitions, and events.
We’ve been selected to perform August 2-10 at theSpaceUK, one of the top venues at this year’s festival, and we need your help to make it happen!

Paying the Fringe. Participation costs: $500
Rehearsal space in New York City: $3,000
Set, costumes, props: $1,500
Marketing. This includes ads, online marketing, and flyers: $500
Paying a stage manager and technicians: $600
The rest will go towards subsidizing costs for our 18 artists! We have to pay for flights, accommodations, and sustenance while in Edinburgh. Your donations will help us survive & make art!
