About

For Tender is an expression of the body and soul coming together in a display of physical theatre, aerialism, and dripping satirical humor. Exploring the highs and lows of being in and out of love, For Tender will take you on a journey of pain, joy, heartache and sacrifice. An ecstatically pitiful and hilariously woeful roller coaster of heart break and desire. For Tender is an exploration of what is left when we give ourselves to others, and the narratives we use to understand ourselves. It is an intermingling of physical theatre and soliloquy that creates a comedic, dark and intimate communication space with its audience. Let Tina Mitchell guide you through worlds that might look like your own reflection - uncomfortably familiar….

Co-written by Tina Mitchell and Matt Russell with additional material by Rachael Kirkham, co-directed by Tina Mitchell and Miriam Grill with aerial choreography and design by Gwyneth Larsen and the team at 5th Wall Studio Brooklyn, For Tender premiered to rave audience reviews at 5th Wall Studio in Brooklyn in December 2025. Co-produced by 5thWall Studio and Mitchell Productions Inc, For Tender will return to 5th Wall Studio in January 2025 as part of the APAP Showcase.

For Tender was conceived by Tina Mitchell, a New York based international theatre artist from Australia. She works as an actor/creator of work that incorporates interdisciplinary, international collaboration and has a strong focus on physical storytelling. Fusing text, music and movement, Tina creates a theatrical language that uses the body as a narrative tool. Tina is passionate about giving voice to female identifying stories that shine a light on socially relevant issues and concerns. Tina’s independent works have travelled to festivals and theatres worldwide including The Iberoamericano Festival de Bogotá, The Prototype Festival NYC, Steppenwolf Theatre, the Napoli International Arts Festival, La Mama NYC and The Singapore Fringe Festival, to name a few. The aim of the 2025 season is to attract the attention of international presenters who can help facilitate a global tour. All funds raised will go towards the production budget including artists wages and marketing and publicity costs.

"This is theatre. It is provocative, engaging, endearing and confronting. Brilliantly performed. A truly unique experience." Photography by Matt Davies.
