Hi. I'm Gail Thomas, a storytelling coach, writer, actor, former lawyer, comedian specializing in dark comedy. My mission is to entertain AND connect people by opening conversation and awareness around taboo, "scary" subjects. Too often traumatic situations turn to shame as people feel isolated, unable to process and share their experiences. My recent and ongoing project is Patient 13, my true story, now a critically-acclaimed dark comedy solo show about love, cancer, and magic mushrooms. It is an intimate, hilarious profound tale of my hilarious and profound journey to being Patient 13 in a groundbreaking clinical study that gave magic mushrooms to cancer survivors with anxiety and depression. Patient 13 just returned from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the world's largest arts festival receiving rave reviews. Audience members laughed, cried, saying: “More people need to see this show... it said what I could not...it's phenomenal."
Thanks!! to over 35 donors who contributed $17,689 to help pay for the Edinburgh Fringe (expenses include producer, venue rental, marketing, press, design, printing, distribution, and tech crew). With expenses over $30,000, we're still fundraising.
We're also raising money to help fund future theatrical productions of Patient 13, as well as a professional video taping for distribution online, and expenses related to developing the project as a movie or TV pilot.
It's not just about one show. It’s about admitting that intimate, honest, thought provoking stories matter — and should be shared globally.
