**Ghost Slippers** is an Oakland-based documentary and community storytelling project dedicated to giving a voice to people experiencing homelessness.
Every person has a story. Yet every day, people walk past individuals living on the streets without acknowledging their presence. Too often, people define them by stereotypes rather than recognizing their humanity.
Ghost Slippers began with a simple act of compassion. Years ago, our founder witnessed a mother and her young child seeking help outside a grocery store on a cold evening. While others walked past, he gave the child his own son's blanket. That encounter inspired a project built on one belief: **No one should feel invisible in their own community. ****
Our first production is a 20–30-minute documentary featuring the voices and lived experiences of people facing homelessness in Oakland. Through interviews, observational filmmaking, and photography, we aim to share stories of hardship, resilience, family, hope, and the desire for opportunity.
We believe meaningful storytelling begins with respect. We will approach our participants with dignity, informed consent, and fair compensation for their time.
Funds raised will support documentary production, filmmaking equipment, transportation, professional editing, participant compensation, and our production team's work.
We intend to screen the completed film publicly, host community conversations, and distribute it online. Future projects may include photography exhibitions and an oral-history publication.
Ghost Slippers is more than a documentary about homelessness. It invites us to recognize our neighbors, listen without judgment, and remember that everyone deserves a voice.
