GhostRave is an immersive indigiqueer electronic opera currently in development that will have a workshop in 2024 and go on to further workshopping and development in 2025 and beyond.
When Coyote the Trickster stumbles across the 1890 Ghost Dance in western Nevada, he accidentally summons Chayson, an indigiqueer bike messenger, from 1990 San Francisco. Trying to get back home, Chayson launches on a journey across time, space, music, dance, despair, hope, and love. GhostRave unfolds – for Chayson, Coyote, an assortment of Native and indigenous beings and spirits, and most of all the audience – as an immersive adventure from composer Brandon M.P. Roberts and librettist Jerome Joseph Gentes that breaks the rules of dancefloors, spacetime, indigeneity, genderqueerness, opera and theatre. Originally conceived during the Beth Morrison Projects Fall 2022 Producers Academy.
