Gold is a new musical about the men who found King Tutankhamun’s tomb. The music, lyrics, and book are written by Mike Brumfield (Chicago).
Brumfield grew up in Warrenville, Illinois, in a very musical family. As a small child, his mother often sat him at her feet while she accompanied various musicals on piano throughout the Chicagoland area. He was deeply inspired by his older sister and brother who starred in school and church musicals. For the past 20 years, Mike has been a solo and dueling pianos player throughout Chicago along with his wife, Rachel Brumfield.
Gold is currently in structured development. After an initial book reading, followed by a stage reading at the Dramatist Theater, we're set to begin the exciting next chapter in our goal to reach the Broadway stage! The second staged reading will take place at The Den Theater at 1331 N Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago. Rather than crowd source, we have decided to focus an offer to "get in early" to 4-5 specific close friends/family members. Donations will support two weeks of rehearsals, artist stipends, and presentation costs as the musical progresses forward!
