hasten dance

hasten dance is an emerging dance theatre arts duo, comprised of Chelsea Roquero (she/her) & Krystal Masteller (she/her), based in Los Angeles, California. We believe in honoring and incorporating the whole self. Our goal is to generate autonomy within our process and the spaces we formulate. Our focus on physicality and momentum-based movement allows us to explore intricacy in creating ease and efficiency in the body.

Any donations will be directed towards supporting the company's future endeavors. These include but are not limited to; festival/residency submissions, creating dance on film projects with local collaborators, and aiding in renting space for our fully self-produced class series. We are a company that currently relies solely on crowdfunding. Any help in fundraising to support us & future collaborative artists/projects is utterly appreciated, plus it’s tax deductible, YAY!

UPCOMING EVENTS

This will be our choreographic debut in Los Angeles, CA. We will be premiering a collaborative evening length dance theatre work with LA artist, Kaia Makihara on JULY 12TH at the Odyssey! 

Act 1, Kaia’s work, will dive into themes surrounding emotions of finality, specifically through the death of a lover/partner. This character’s trial begins when a portal of passing presents itself. Act 2 will involve 3 characters experiencing grief as a verb. Each persona will go through an unveiling process where they are left with the choice to relinquish pent up emotions. In the process, possible realities will encompass the artists giving them permission to experience a life without grief/regret. To compensate our collaborators accordingly we are raising funds through crowdsourcing! All collaborators include; dance artists (Jen Lacy & Orlando Agawin), stage manager (Darby Epperson), costume designer (Hannah Roquero), and composer/performer (Toby Echevarria).
