Hineni is a feature-length documentary traveling across the United States to document the lives of 18 diverse Jewish Americans — individuals who are Black, Asian, Middle Eastern, Mizrahi, Sephardic, Beta Israel, gay, lesbian, and transgender — in their homes, workplaces, temples, and communities. The number 18 is intentional: in Hebrew, chai means life, and this film is built around that number deliberately. Shot entirely on location with a lean three-person crew, Hineni is an intimate, honest portrait of a community far broader and more beautiful than the world has been shown.
