Thank you so much for considering Hudson Valley Improv for your generous donation! Fundraising is an exciting new venture for us. With Fractured Atlas as our sponsor, we can now accept your tax deductible donation and continue to grow.
Hudson Valley Improv is a small, certified woman owned business based in a rural area of upstate New York. We teach improv comedy to adults. 99% of our students aren't professional performers. These are teachers, parents, lawyers, real estate sales people, police officers, military, entrepreneurs, all looking to do something that stretches. them. They want to "shake things up"!
Our award-winning training center was founded and is currently lead by master improviser and actor,
Samantha Jones. Jones specializes in improv and created her method called Improv Empowerment. She taught improv for over 20 years in NYC before bringing her work to upstate New York in 2013 in the hopes of reaching communities with less access to professional training in the arts.
As a native New York City resident, Jones was unsure improv would catch on, especially since she didn't know anyone. But step by step, the Hudson Valley Improv community has grown. People register many times to take her classes and the shows are packed and the demand for our multi-level classes grows every year. Many students take years to strengthen their craft and some aspire to join our
House Team Touring Company.
Our touring company (comprised of students who audition to be cast) has appeared in several festivals and venues on the East Coast including The Hartford Improv Festival, The Catskills Comedy Festival, The Utica Improv Festival, The Stissing Center, The Hill People Festival, The Culinary Institute of America, The Bridge Street Theatre, Kingston Pride Week and more. One of our goals is to tour nationally and internationally with our cast.
As a small business, our financial resources are limited. We keep our classes very affordable. Improv classes are seen as a luxury up here, so we like to make it easy for people to say yes to improv.
Our current goals is to keep our classes affordable for 2025 and expand our space.
This campaign is to be a show sponsor for one or all of the upcoming shows in 2025.
